What you get to do as a Ripening Specialist
- Accurately ripen by color stage or pressure the quantity of fruit forecasted by the sales team each week
- Work with Facilities to help maintain ripening rooms and equipment on a consistent basis
- Collaborate with internal departments (FSP Sales, Buying and SLI) to ensure fruit in need of ripening flows efficiently throughout operations and is ripened to customer specification
- Develop and maintain auditing systems to ensure compliance with standards
- Work with Manager and Assistant Managers on scheduling/coverage of Ripening Associates to meet company and customer requirements.
- Develop and conduct regular position-specific training for Ripening Associates
- Support QC Manager/Assistant Manager in continuous improvement and change management efforts
- Set a consistent example for others in conducting thorough audits, time management, leadership, communication, professionalism and integrity.
- Operate equipment safely, follow safe work practices, maintain a safe work area, and adhere to food safety policies.
What you bring
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalency
- 5 years of produce ripening experience, specifically in bananas, tomatoes and avocados
- Ideally, prior knowledge of Four Seasons Produce, Inc. operations
- Proficient computer skills and ability to learn new software programs
- Must be able to distinguish colors for grading produce and have keen attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, prioritize, and make sound decisions
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient interpersonal, collaborative, and organizational skills
